York is five miles away with a park and ride just down the road, with access for wheelchairs, also York has shopmobility.
Castle Howard is six miles away and is not to be missed. Also in the same direction is Pickering where you can visit the trout farm and have a ride on the steam train.

Whitby, Scarborough and Filey are half an hours drive and are great for sight seeing and fun for the children. York itself has got so many attractions to keep you here, The Castle Museum, Yorvick dig, and of course the Railway Museum which you could spend all day in.
Then there is the beautiful York Minster. If you like architecture then you must take a walk down the Shambles and Stonegate. If you look up and you will feel like you have gone back in time...
